Heritage

Mid-January 2015, the Pope visited the Philippines which meant three days of vacation for employees, like me, in NCR. Being a person wants to get away whenever she can, I grabbed the chance to take some R&R and bugged my dad to take us somewhere nice. He was so into vacation-mode since we stayed at Montemar Beach Club (Sosh!).

The next morning, we took a walking, guided tour of Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar, a heritage resort with a collection of restored Spanish-Filipino houses by Jose Acuzar. The resort transports you to 18th Century Philippines. Each house/casa has aΒ  unique story to tell. According to our guide, some parts of some of the houses like the banisters, beams, walls were from the original house and some houses were replicated on-site. Houses (original or replica) of some Filipino heroes, politicians and prominent people during the Spanish rule in the Philippines can be found in Las Casas. The place is so instagramable.

A UNESCO Heritage Site, Intramuros (Spanish for “within the walls”) has a lot of stories to tell within it’s walls. The kalesa rides, brick wall structures, Spanish-style houses, period lamp posts, old churches represent all that is Philippine history.

Charming, enchanting place. You should definitely visit.

Til the next kalesa ride,

Grace

grace

For what are we without God’s grace? What would our life be like? What would we look like if God did not change our face by grace? Β Yes. Probably like a hermit. Wandering, displaced, dirty and homeless. But by His grace, our wrinkles of worry, shadows of shame and doubt are all brushed away and we become portraits of grace and trust.

Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

~Job 10:12

Still in awe of His grace,

Deedin
